Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor pediatric patients’ respiratory status and respond quickly to changes
• Deliver respiratory therapies and treatments, including oxygen delivery and aerosolized medications
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as ventilators and airway devices
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to develop patient care plans
• Document treatments, patient responses, and clinical observations accurately in the medical record
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients’ families about respiratory care and home care plans
• Participate in unit orientation and contribute to a positive, learning-focused team environment

Qualifications

• Current Ohio respiratory care practitioner license required
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Previous pediatric respiratory care experience preferred
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate degree or equivalent)
• Completion of credentialing requirements for respiratory therapists

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric respiratory assessment and age-appropriate interventions
• Mechanical ventilation basics and ventilator troubleshooting
• Airway management and suctioning techniques
• Administration of nebulized and inhaled respiratory medications
• Interpretation of basic arterial blood gas results
• Familiarity with infection control practices and sterile technique
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation
