Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
- Prepare the OR, instruments and supplies and ensure sterile technique is maintained
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
- Monitor patient status before, during and after procedures and respond promptly to changes
- Document care accurately and communicate details for safe handoffs
- Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
- Mentor and support colleagues, contributing to a positive team environment
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact license if applicable
- Experience in operating room nursing or perioperative care preferred
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications encouraged
- Strong clinical assessment and patient safety focus
- Excellent teamwork, communication and time management skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance
- Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and procedural flow
- Patient monitoring and recognition of clinical changes
- Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced surgical environment
