Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Monitor and document patient condition, vital signs, and responses to care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to create and follow plans of care
• Perform thorough patient assessments and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure timely documentation

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Louisiana (or compact licensure where applicable) — required
• Clinical experience or demonstrated competence in Med/Surg nursing
• BLS certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred
• Comfort working 12+ hour shifts and the ability to manage a varied patient load
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Patient assessment skills including recognizing subtle clinical changes
• Competence in EMR/charting and documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay calm in fast-paced situations
• Team-oriented mindset with strong patient advocacy skills
