Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert pediatric critical care nursing for PICU patients with compassion and precision
• Perform ongoing patient assessment, intervene appropriately, and escalate changes in condition
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and social work
• Administer and monitor medications and advanced therapies safely and accurately
• Document patient care and progress clearly in the medical record
• Participate in family education and support during high-stress clinical situations
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and unit-based safety practices

Qualifications

• Current, valid Registered Nurse license (California RN license preferred)
• BLS certification required; PALS required or preferred depending on facility policy
• Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
• Strong pediatric assessment and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Ability to complete orientation program as documented in the posting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in pediatric and neonatal assessment and interventions
• Familiarity with ventilator management and advanced monitoring
• Proficient in IV/medication administration and infusion pump management
• Clear communicator with families and the healthcare team
• Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation and orders
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice
