Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Closely monitor patient status, interpret vital signs, and respond to changes with clinical urgency
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following unit protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and social work to develop and update care plans
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with families, keeping them informed and involved in care decisions
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing education to maintain best practices and clinical competencies
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly and timely in the medical record

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Ohio (or compact license when applicable)
• Pediatric critical care experience or previous PICU experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric settings
• Strong clinical assessment skills, teamwork, and excellent communication with families and staff
• Willingness to complete required facility onboarding and orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and monitoring
• Experience with respiratory support and ventilator basics for pediatrics
• Ability to manage IV medications, vasoactive drips, and titrated therapies safely
• Proficiency in patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and pediatric dosing
• Collaborative approach to interdisciplinary care and family-centered communication
• Comfortable with clinical documentation and following unit protocols
