Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments, ensuring everything is sterile and ready
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating needs during procedures
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control practices
• Perform instrument counts and accurate documentation to support patient safety
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and support staff to create an efficient OR workflow
• Assist with room turnover and equipment cleaning between cases to keep the schedule moving
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to stay current with best practices

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technology program preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain as required by facility
• Current immunizations and ability to pass facility background and health screenings
• Comfort working in an operating room environment and following strict sterile protocol
• Strong attention to detail and reliable documentation skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication — you’ll be part of a tight-knit OR crew

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of sterile technique and infection control
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, trays, and OR equipment
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and act proactively
• Solid documentation and instrument counting skills
• Calm under pressure with strong situational awareness
• Good interpersonal skills for smooth collaboration with surgeons and nursing staff
