Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients for surgery with empathy and attention to detail
Perform focused pre-op assessments and document findings accurately
Educate families and caregivers about pre-op instructions and what to expect
Coordinate with surgical and perioperative teams to ensure smooth patient flow
Monitor patient status, report any concerns, and escalate appropriately
Maintain accurate, timely charting and comply with facility policies and safety protocols

Qualifications

Current RN license (state of Massachusetts) required
Pediatric experience or interest in pediatric perioperative nursing preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
Strong assessment, communication and patient/family education skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary surgical team

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate communication
Familiarity with pre-op procedures, fasting guidelines, and preoperative preparations
Excellent documentation and charting skills
Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical environment
Teamwork, adaptability, and a patient-centered approach
