Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Safely administer medications and manage IV therapies according to policy
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record
• Prioritize patient safety, infection control and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana required
• Medical-surgical (Med/Surg) experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications a plus
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen and required health screenings
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy
• Skilled in patient assessment, wound care and post-operative care
• Effective patient and family education skills
• Time management, prioritization and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams
