Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess patient condition and intervene appropriately to promote recovery
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to coordinate patient plans
• Document care clearly and timely in the patient record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Support unit flow by accepting assignments, communicating needs, and mentoring colleagues

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain) is required
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred where applicable
• Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to variable scheduling as a per diem clinician

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid medical-surgical nursing knowledge, including monitoring and assessment
• Proficient medication administration and documentation skills
• Familiarity with electronic health records and standard charting practices
• Basic IV therapy and wound care skills
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced setting
