Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist to help residents progress
- Assist residents with strengthening, balance, and ADL mobility training to improve independence
- Document treatment delivery accurately and timely to maintain clear clinical records
- Encourage safe mobility and functional independence while promoting dignity and confidence
- Communicate effectively with PTs, nursing staff, and caregivers to support coordinated care
Qualifications
- Active California PTA license required
- Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred
- Strong teamwork mindset and patient-centered approach
- Comfortable with clinical documentation and following PT-developed plans
- Reliable, professional, and committed to resident safety and outcomes
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (typically an Associate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and ADL support
- Clinical documentation best practices and attention to detail
- Good communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to follow treatment plans and provide safe hands-on assistance
- Time management and prioritization in a busy SNF environment
