Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality neuro-focused nursing care to adult patients using evidence-based practices
- Perform neuro assessments, monitor changes, and escalate concerns promptly to the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary teammates to develop and execute patient-centered plans
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document in the patient record
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to consults and urgent needs during assigned call days
- Champion patient safety by following infection control protocols and participating in safety huddles
- Support onboarding by completing Trinity skills checklist and maintaining required certifications
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Georgia (must have or be eligible)
- BLS certification required
- Neuro experience required (prior neuro unit or neuroclinical experience)
- Able to complete Trinity checklist, fit test, Trinity respirator evaluation, and required health screenings
- Required immunizations and screenings: COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, and 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/T-Spot)
- Pass Trinity 10 panel drug screen and provide physical/health statement
- Professional, dependable, and able to participate in a 9-10 day per month call rotation
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
- Completion of hospital orientation and unit-specific training
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neuro assessment skills including LOC, cranial nerves, motor/sensory checks, and intracranial pressure awareness
- Skilled in patient monitoring and recognizing early signs of neurologic deterioration
- Proficient documentation habits and clear communication with the interdisciplinary team
- Comfortable with acute care workflows, medication administration, and safety protocols
- Ability to manage call responsibilities and triage effectively
