Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on therapeutic care under the supervision of licensed PTs to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Implement treatment plans, assist with therapeutic exercises, modalities, and safe patient transfers
• Monitor patient progress, document interventions accurately in the medical record, and communicate changes with the care team
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety strategies to support long-term recovery
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and rehab staff to coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care
• Maintain equipment, ensure infection-control standards, and contribute to a safe clinical environment

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in Massachusetts or eligible to obtain state license
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (Associate degree or equivalent)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain)
• Comfortable working with adult inpatient populations and medically complex patients
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on a care team

Education

• Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (or completion of accredited PTA program)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and basic modalities
• Proficient with documenting in electronic medical records and following care plans
• Knowledge of safety principles for patient handling and mobility
• Good clinical judgment, organization, and time-management
• Compassionate patient education and motivational coaching
• Teamwork and clear interdisciplinary communication
