Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents: assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in resident condition promptly
- Assist nursing team with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning
- Support mealtime assistance, feeding, and hydration needs with dignity and respect
- Maintain accurate documentation of care, observations, and resident interactions
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or active registry (New Mexico or eligible to transfer/obtain)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or able to obtain
- Current TB test and required immunizations (per facility policy)
- Background check and drug screen clearance as required by the facility
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (lifting, standing, assisting residents)
- Previous experience in long-term care or similar setting is preferred but new grads with strong bedside skills are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED; successful completion of an accredited CNA training program and certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong resident-centered care and empathy
- Vital signs measurement and basic clinical observation
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic documentation and charting skills
- Infection control and hand hygiene best practices
- Teamwork, communication, and time management in a fast-paced care environment
