Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered occupational therapy support to help patients regain independence
- Implement treatment plans under the supervision of the occupational therapist and document progress clearly
- Assist with therapeutic activities, mobility training, ADL retraining, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the facility record system and follow compliance standards
- Contribute to a positive rehabilitation environment by mentoring aides and supporting team goals
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential in good standing
- California state licensure or registration as required for COTA practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in a rehab, skilled nursing, or outpatient setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Reliable, professional, and patient-focused approach to care
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic techniques for ADLs, mobility, and adaptive equipment
- Ability to follow treatment plans and progress patients toward measurable goals
- Comfortable with documentation and electronic health record systems
- Good clinical judgement, time management, and patient safety focus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient teaching and team coordination
