Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and surgical instrumentation for a wide variety of cases
• Assist surgeons and scrub efficiently during orthopedic, trauma, podiatry, urology, vascular and thoracic procedures
• Support robotic cases when assigned; robotics experience is highly preferred
• Respond quickly and calmly in a high-acuity trauma level II environment
• Perform safe patient handling and positioning, ensuring patient safety and dignity
• Document perioperative care accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with the team
• Be a dependable team player who limits call-outs and helps cover unit needs during high-demand periods

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent operating room or surgical technologist experience
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Surgical technologist certification or OR tech licensure as required by facility (ability to submit license required)
• Comfortable with trauma, ortho, podiatry, basic urology, vascular; thoracic experience a plus
• Robotics experience highly preferred
• Available to start 2025-11-18 for this urgent backfill and able to commit to a 13-week assignment
• Must not have been employed (FT/PT/PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI or Dignity within the past year (PRN through outside firms is acceptable)
• Flexible schedule, reliable attendance, and willingness to take required call

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, and operating room workflow
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Ability to support a broad case mix including trauma and orthopedics
• Robotics setup and instrumentation knowledge (preferred)
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-pressure situations
• Quick decision-making and adaptability in a trauma level II setting
• Basic perioperative pharmacology and instrument identification
