Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents — assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Support rehabilitation goals by helping patients with mobility and therapeutic activities
- Monitor and document resident condition, behavior and vital signs accurately and promptly
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and safety procedures
- Communicate clearly with nurses, therapists and family members to ensure coordinated care
- Respond to resident needs promptly and escalate clinical changes to licensed staff
- Contribute to a positive, encouraging atmosphere that supports resident dignity and independence
Qualifications
- GNA or CNA certification active in Maryland (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
- Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehab settings preferred (1+ year ideal)
- Comfortable with transfers, mobility assistance and basic restorative care
- Able to work the scheduled evening/night shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) reliably
- Clear background check and TB screening per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care skills focused on dignity and comfort
- Safe transfer and positioning techniques
- Basic charting and documentation skills (paper or electronic records)
- Infection control best practices and PPE usage
- Good communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
