Roles & Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist in orthopedic, neuro, and vascular surgeries with precision and calm under pressure
- Maintain sterile field and ensure all instrumentation and implants are available and handled correctly
- Respond to call assignments within the required 30-minute window to support urgent patient needs
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and techs to drive excellent perioperative outcomes
- Perform central processing and instrument checks to keep turnover efficient and safe
- Float to General OR or the Outpatient Surgery Center as staffing needs dictate
- Document case details and instrument usage accurately to support patient safety and inventory control
- Mentor peers when appropriate and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (required)
- BLS certification required
- CST strongly preferred but not required
- Proven, current experience across orthopedic, neuro, and vascular cases — wide breadth of current experience required
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving in the OR environment
- Solid knowledge of central processing, instrumentation, and aseptic technique
- Ability to participate in weekend and on-call rotations and meet a 30-minute response time
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Knowledge & Skills
- Surgical Technology (perioperative skills and sterile technique)
- Orthopedic surgery instrumentation and implants
- Neurosurgery setup and instrumentation
- Vascular surgery assistance and instrumentation
- BLS and perioperative patient safety
- Central processing and instrument reprocessing knowledge
- Critical thinking, situational awareness, and teamwork
- Familiarity with OR workflows and documentation
