Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile instrumentation and supplies for orthopedic, neurosurgery, and vascular procedures
- Anticipate surgeon needs and promptly pass instruments to keep cases efficient and safe
- Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure patient safety in the operating room
- Assist with setup, turnover, and instrument processing with attention to central processing best practices
- Participate in call rotation and respond on-site within the required 30-minute window
- Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to optimize patient flow and outcomes
- Document case information, instrument counts, and equipment issues accurately and professionally
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing insights on instrumentation and workflow
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- BLS certification required
- CST certification preferred but not required
- Strong, current hands-on experience across orthopedic, neuro, and vascular cases - candidates lacking full breadth of current experience will not be considered
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the OR
- Availability for onsite shifts and flexible call coverage; candidates with minimal RTO will receive priority consideration
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise with surgical instrumentation and central processing procedures
- Solid understanding of sterile technique and OR infection control
- Ability to prioritize tasks, respond quickly during emergent situations, and maintain composure
- Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills in high-stakes environments
- Familiarity with orthopedic, neurosurgical, and vascular case workflows and specialty instruments
- Detail-oriented approach to counts, documentation, and equipment maintenance
