Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for adult Med-Surg patients during night shifts
• Assess patient condition, monitor vitals, and respond promptly to changes in status
• Administer medications (IV and oral) safely and document according to policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—physicians, therapists, and case managers—to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, discharge plans, and self-care needs
• Accurately document care and clinical observations in the electronic health record
• Support unit performance expectations and maintain professional standards; travelers not meeting Low/Mid/High expectations may have contracts ended

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN license (compact license accepted where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Med-Surg experience (preferred: at least 1 year of recent acute care Med-Surg nursing)
• Comfort and competence with IV medication administration and common acute interventions
• Ability to work nights and adapt to fast-paced hospital settings
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Travel nurse experience and ability to quickly integrate into new teams is a plus

Education

• ADN or BSN in Nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of adult medical-surgical nursing principles
• Patient assessment and focused clinical decision-making
• Medication administration safety and IV therapy skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients effectively
• Basic familiarity with acute care protocols (fall prevention, infection control, escalation pathways)
