Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care — bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulation and more
- Deliver person-centered care for residents with dementia and behavioral health needs
- Assist with end-of-life care with empathy and respect for the resident and family
- Support nursing staff with vital signs, ADLs, documentation, and timely reporting of changes
- Safely operate patient-handling equipment (Sara, Hoyer) and follow safety protocols
- Document care accurately in CareTracker LTC and communicate effectively with the team
- Contribute to a positive, fast-paced unit culture that prioritizes resident dignity
Qualifications
- Current CNA Certification (required) — no certification, no go
- Preferred: experience in long-term care, Medication Aide certification, or CNA II
- Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required background checks
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with elderly residents, including dementia care
- Reliable transportation to Highlands-Cashiers Hospital Campus
Education
- High school diploma or GED; current CNA Certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with CareTracker LTC EMR or ability to learn quickly
- Safe patient handling skills and experience with Sara and Hoyer lifts
- Excellent observation, documentation, and communication abilities
- Person-centered care techniques and dementia-sensitive approaches
- Ability to follow care plans, work collaboratively, and thrive in a busy unit
