Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents in a rehab setting
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and accurately record vital signs and patient observations
- Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics
- Document care and communicate changes to the nursing team clearly
- Follow infection control protocols to keep patients and coworkers safe
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required) — CNA acceptable depending on state rules
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test per facility policy
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude
- Prior experience in long-term care or rehab settings preferred but new grads welcome
- Ability to pass background checks and facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- GNA certification (required); CNA acceptable where applicable
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic patient care and ADLs
- Skillful in taking vitals and documenting observations
- Familiarity with safe transfer and lifting techniques
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Ability to follow care plans and physician/nurse directions
- Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
