Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to Medical ICU patients using critical thinking and excellent assessment skills
• Manage ventilators and advanced hemodynamic monitoring to optimize patient outcomes
• Administer and titrate critical care pharmacology including IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors safely and accurately
• Assist providers with bedside procedures such as intubations and chest tube placements when needed
• Perform bedside shift reports and participate in nurse leader rounding to maintain continuity and patient experience
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, float to support unit needs, and contribute to a positive unit culture
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to support continuity and compliance
• Advocate for patient safety, infection control, and optimal outcomes during each shift

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state of practice or compact license as applicable
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Proven Medical ICU experience in a large facility; comfortable with high-acuity patients
• Comfortable with ventilator management, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line care
• Demonstrated critical thinking, flexibility, teamwork, and strong communication skills
• Ability and willingness to float to other units as needed
• Comfort assisting with bedside procedures and responding in emergent situations
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday support

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory support strategies
• Hemodynamic monitoring including advanced hemodynamic techniques
• Central line management and IV therapy
• Experience with IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressor administration
• Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) familiarity
• Documentation proficiency in Cerner electronic health record
• Safe patient handling with lift equipment
• Effective bedside shift reporting and nurse leader rounding practices
