Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, ensuring patient safety and excellent outcomes
• Prepare and maintain CVOR sterile fields, instruments, and specialized equipment with attention to detail
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and the multidisciplinary team to execute complex cardiovascular procedures
• Monitor patients’ physiological status during procedures and respond quickly to changes
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and post-op care in a clear, compassionate manner
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Florida) — active and in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR/cardiovascular surgery experience (as listed in the job details)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required or obtain upon hire)
• Familiarity with CVOR instrumentation, invasive monitoring, and sterile technique
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
• Ability to pass facility-specific credentialing and background checks

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and perioperative nursing principles
• Skill with instrumentation setup and management in the CVOR
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and prioritize under pressure
• Infection control best practices and sterile technique mastery
