Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care in Pre-op and PACU for surgical patients
• Assess patients, monitor vital signs, and evaluate recovery from anesthesia
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative teams to ensure smooth patient flow
• Administer medications and manage pain control according to protocols
• Educate patients and families on pre-op preparation and post-op recovery plans
• Respond promptly and competently when on-call to support urgent patient needs
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the medical record

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Vermont licensure or ability to obtain) required
• Experience working in Pre-op and/or PACU preferred
• Comfort with taking call and responding to urgent situations
• Reliable transportation required due to rural location and limited public transit
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment skills for post-anesthesia recovery and pre-op evaluation
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management
• Familiarity with monitoring equipment and airway management basics
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a small hospital setting
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following protocols
• Adaptability to a rural healthcare environment and limited resources
