Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients from admission through discharge
Perform skilled assessments and intervene promptly for patients with central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilatory needs
Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKGs, manage IV pumps and invasive monitoring (A-lines, central lines)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (providers, charge nurse, case management) to coordinate effective care and discharge planning
Act as a clinical leader on the unit: guide CNAs/LPNs, assist with precepting staff, and support unit workflow and quality goals
Document care thoroughly and maintain professional standards while providing emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and families

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure (required)
BLS, ACLS, PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Practice experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit with recent Critical Care or Progressive Care experience (required)
Certifications EPNC and TNCC preferred
Demonstrated ability to operate advanced medical equipment and manage complex patient needs

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and direct patient care
Vital signs and hemodynamic monitoring, invasive monitoring (A-line, central line)
Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Ventilator support (invasive and noninvasive) and chest tube management
IV pump management and care for multiple IV lines
Collaborative care and discharge planning
Clinical leadership and precepting experience
Comfort with pediatric patients and a broad surgical/medical patient population
