Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, using therapeutic procedures to restore strength and mobility
Deliver therapeutic modalities and assistive device training to improve function and reduce pain
Implement range of motion and mobility training programs tailored to each patient
Monitor patient progress, document clinical findings, and communicate updates to the supervising Physical Therapist
Ensure patient safety while assisting with transfers, gait training, and functional mobility tasks
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies to maintain gains between visits
Adhere to professional and regulatory standards, including the California State Practice Act

Qualifications

Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
Valid California Physical Therapist Assistant license required
Ability to perform direct patient care and execute therapeutic procedures safely
Comfortable working under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams

Education

Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of therapeutic procedures and modalities used in physical rehabilitation
Skilled in use and instruction of assistive devices and adaptive equipment
Proficient in range of motion, strength, and mobility training techniques
Understanding of pain management strategies and functional outcome measures
Competent documentation and reporting of patient progress and treatment plans
Familiarity with State Practice Act requirements and compliance
