Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain a comprehensive risk management program that protects patients and the organization.
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Direct the patient safety program, facilitating system-based improvements to reduce medical errors.
• Plan and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to drive lasting change.
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up after adverse incidents, ensuring compassionate communication with patients and families.
• Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and provide targeted risk-management education to staff and leadership.
• Support accreditation efforts through chart audits, clinical reviews, and data-driven quality activities.
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality-of-care concerns.

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (Agency staff must have an active AK license).
• Direct hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date.
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years of hire.
• Clinical competency demonstration required within 3 months and every 3 years thereafter.
• Minimum 3 years of experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborating with physicians and corporate counsel.
• Working knowledge of regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and applicable federal/state laws.
