Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead infection prevention and control program development, implementation, and maintenance across the consortium
- Collect, analyze, trend, and report infection control data and statistical outcomes, including NHSN submissions
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures that align with CDC, OSHA, CMS, TJC, FDA, and APIC guidance
- Design and deliver infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, and communities
- Chair the IPC committee, provide oversight of Employee Health, and serve as a resource to leadership and clinical teams
- Conduct on-site assessments, audits, and trainings across regional facilities to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
- Supervise staff and manage program performance improvement initiatives tied to infection prevention outcomes
- Collaborate with public health and regional partners to keep the system’s practices current and evidence-based
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for an Alaska license before start date; agency staff must have an active Alaska license)
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or a related healthcare field required
- Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
- Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
- Clinical Competency and Manager Competency (SEARHC) required within 3 months of hire and ongoing per policy
- Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control experience and/or data collection, performance improvement, or risk management experience
- Experience with basic statistics, epidemiologic principles, and NHSN reporting
- Supervisory experience and program management skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar (required)
- Master's degree in a healthcare-related field (MPH, MSN) preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum educational baseline)
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of epidemiology, infectious disease, and surveillance practices
- Proficiency with NHSN reporting and regulatory compliance (CDC, OSHA, CMS, TJC, FDA)
- Strong data collection, statistical analysis, and MS Office/database application skills
- Ability to develop policy, translate regulatory requirements into practice, and evaluate program effectiveness
- Excellent verbal and written communication tailored to varied audiences and multicultural settings
- Teamwork, independent initiative, and the ability to build strong relationships across clinical and administrative teams
- Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
