Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver comprehensive nursing care for patients of all ages in the emergency/acute care setting
• Make independent clinical decisions during your scheduled shift and maintain accountability for all actions
• Supervise, delegate to, and support CNA/Tech staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
• Develop, implement, and review individualized patient care plans and nursing documentation
• Respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions
• Maintain infection control standards and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families
• Manage medication administration, stock levels, and requisitions for supplies and equipment
• Participate in unit meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska OR applied for Alaska license before start date (direct hire); agency staff must have active Alaska license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN, ADN, or Diploma)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Clinical Competency Assessment and High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and on recurring schedules
• TNCC preferred (required for ED nurses)
• Ability to work independently, make sound clinical judgments, and supervise support staff
• No prior experience strictly required, but acute care/ED/long-term care experience is preferred

Education

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing — BSN, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma
• High school diploma or equivalent (as stated in job posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and care planning skills
• Medication administration and accurate nursing documentation
• Infection control practices and emergency response
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
• Ability to lead, delegate, and supervise clinical staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices in hospital and long-term care settings
