Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered orthopedic nursing care on a 32-room unit
• Perform dressing changes and suture/staple removal with attention to healing
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and according to policy
• Maintain, troubleshoot and remove Wound VAC systems as needed
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate excellent care
• Assist patients with mobility using lifts and devices to promote safe ambulation
• Educate patients and families so they feel confident caring for themselves at home

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN clinical experience (as listed in the posting)
• Orthopedic or med-surg hospital experience preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR and common orthopedic equipment
• Team-player attitude and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Cerner electronic medical record proficiency
• Wound care and Wound VAC management
• Foley catheter and NG tube care
• Orthopedic postoperative care and mobility assistance
• Familiarity with patient lifts, CPM machines and bladder scanners
• Ability to manage assigned patient ratios on day and night shifts
