Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care for ICU patients, managing complex assessments and interventions
• Monitor and interpret advanced hemodynamic and ventilator data to guide timely clinical decisions
• Administer medications and advanced therapies safely and accurately, following hospital protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members for coordinated care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly and promptly in the medical record
• Serve as a float resource to acute care floors when staffing needs arise, adapting quickly to new environments
• Participate in specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness
• Support unit safety initiatives, infection control practices, and required health screenings

Qualifications

• Current RN license (able to practice in Iowa) with active license/certificate verification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Experience in critical care/ICU nursing and willingness to float to acute floors
• Successful completion of facility-required health screenings (fit test, drug screen, immunizations)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Proficiency with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Safe medication administration and titration in acute settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity environments
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt during fast-paced overnight shifts
• Comfort with unit-specific competency testing and maintaining required documentation
