Roles & Responsibilities

Audit medical records to validate ICD-10 and CPT code accuracy and ensure documentation supports coding choices
Compile clear, actionable audit reports with analysis and findings to drive measurable improvement
Communicate findings to physicians and midlevel providers to validate observations and improve documentation
Design and implement documentation support tools in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager
Provide formal and informal education to providers, coders, and charge entry staff to elevate coding quality
Train new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation guidelines
Perform coding tasks as needed and assist the Assistant Revenue Cycle Manager with coding evaluations and performance reviews
Maintain audit logs and consistently meet established productivity targets for record audits

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor degree in a related field preferred
Minimum five years of combined inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing experience
Proven professional physician coding experience in an office-based setting
Experience interacting with physicians and delivering provider education and feedback
Comfortable working fully onsite in Dover, DE

Education

Associate Degree in a related field (required)
Bachelor Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
Experience with inpatient and outpatient coding and medical record auditing
Clinical documentation review and ability to align documentation with code selection
Ability to compile audit reports and present findings clearly
Experience coding multiple specialties and supporting a multi-specialty group practice
Provider communication and education skills
Familiarity with charge entry support and revenue cycle workflows
