Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating shifts including day and night coverage, includes nights and weekends; schedule varies (no block schedules) — must be willing to work assigned shifts

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-acuity nursing care to trauma, spinal/neuro, and surgical patients with skill and compassion
Perform thorough assessments and prioritize interventions for critically injured patients (gunshot wounds, spinal cord injuries, quads, paraplegics)
Collaborate closely with ED, admitting units, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth nurse handoffs
Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
Delegate and coordinate care with Nursing Support Techs, phlebotomists, and unit secretaries to maintain safe patient ratios
Respond rapidly to trauma activations and support Level 1 trauma workflows

Qualifications

BLS certification required
ACLS preferred
EPIC experience required
Minimum 2 years of experience in trauma/surgical or similar high-acuity specialty
Comfort working in a large Level 1 trauma center and managing a 5:1 patient ratio

Knowledge & Skills

High Acuity Care and trauma management
Surgical nursing workflows and post-op care
Spinal and neuro patient care knowledge
Strong bedside assessment and critical thinking
Effective nurse handoff communication and teamwork
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
