Roles & Responsibilities

Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care
Coordinate and lead the clinical education and competency program for OT staff, keeping skills sharp and standards high
Directly supervise certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians, fostering a collaborative team environment
Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and professional standards to protect patients and staff
Develop, maintain, and oversee OT policy and procedure manuals covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with hands-on therapeutic interventions
Support program development and perform administrative duties as needed (approximately 20% administrative time), contributing to continuous improvement

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association) — required
Currently licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of California (Board of Medical Quality Assurance) — required
Possess additional qualifications as recommended by the California Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department — required
Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) — preferred

Education

Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

Knowledge & Skills

Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatment expertise
Clinical supervision and oversight of COTAs and rehab technicians
Regulatory compliance and documentation best practices
Policy and procedure development related to OT scope of care and standards
Discharge planning and patient-focused care coordination
Clinical education, competency assessment, and staff development
