Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal) accurately and efficiently
• Conduct exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography and other cardiac diagnostic tests as ordered
• Perform EKGs, Holter prep, monitoring and Holter analysis to deliver actionable diagnostic information
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) and ensure proper disinfection
• Use hospital information systems for scheduling, processing studies, and accurate charge capture
• Apply infection control and aseptic techniques consistently to protect patients and staff
• Provide age-specific care — including neonatal and pediatric patients — with compassion and clinical precision
• Serve as a resource to physicians, nursing staff and trainees; provide preceptorship and clinical guidance as needed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Successful completion of a cardiovascular sonography certification program or minimum two years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: extensive hospital-based experience and strong background in pediatric and neonatal echocardiography
• Comfortable working evenings and flexible schedules

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography or completion of an accredited sonography program (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, M-Mode and color-flow Doppler
• Experienced with cardiac stress testing, exercise and pharmacologic protocols
• Proficient in EKG acquisition and Holter monitoring and analysis
• Familiarity with hospital information systems for scheduling and charge capture
• Strong infection control practices, aseptic technique and equipment disinfection
• Able to precept students and provide clear clinical instruction
