Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence based oncology nursing care to adults on a 24 bed unit
• Monitor and manage patients with complex medical surgical and oncology needs, maintaining the unit patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Document assessments, interventions, and care plans in the Cerner EMR accurately and timely
• Support or perform unit procedures as appropriate, including thoracentesis assistance, echo monitoring, and occasional pelvic exams
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment plans and transitions of care
• Administer medications and support chemotherapy workflows if you hold chemo certification
• Adhere to hospital policies and unit guidelines while contributing to a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (as listed)
• Oncology nursing and medical surgical experience preferred
• Chemo certification preferred for those assisting with chemotherapy
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Team player attitude and willingness to learn on a busy specialty unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and symptom management
• Medical surgical nursing skills
• Proficient documentation in Cerner EMR
• Experience with procedures such as thoracentesis, echo monitoring, and pelvic exams
• Ability to manage acuity and patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
