Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist on complex cardiac, vascular and thoracic procedures (CABG, valves, TAVR, EVAR/TEVAR, VATS, LVAD/RVAD, ECMO) with precision and a calm focus
• Prepare, set up and verify all instruments and open heart equipment to ensure every case runs smoothly
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to unit guidelines and safety policies throughout each procedure
• Collaborate closely with circulating nurses, anesthesia and the OR team so patients receive coordinated care
• Document perioperative details and case information in Meditech and support accurate charting
• Respond promptly when on call and provide reliable support as a member of the call team

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience with demonstrated cardiac, vascular and thoracic case experience
• Proven ability to scrub cardiac and vascular cases (must-have skills per unit)
• Familiarity with Meditech is preferred
• Punctual, flexible schedule, and able to meet a 30-minute callback requirement when on call

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and instrument handling for CVOR cases
• Knowledge of open heart equipment and advanced cardiovascular procedures
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR and level 2 trauma support environment
• Effective teamwork, clear communication, and adaptability
• Basic navigation of Meditech or similar EMR systems
