Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide engaging clinical education and training to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell, focusing on high-quality, evidence-based care
• Partner with clinical leaders to design, standardize, and implement clinical competencies and curricula that meet policy and accreditation standards
• Evaluate and document competency completion and effectiveness, driving improvement in clinical practice and patient outcomes
• Collaborate with the CNA clinical educator to support preceptorships, onboarding, and student clinical experiences with UAA and UAS
• Lead and participate in clinical education projects across the consortium as a member of the Clinical Nursing Education program
• Use evidence-based research to identify and implement strategies that enhance professional development and nursing practice

Qualifications

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — required
• Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers — required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical competency assessment completion required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• Supervisory experience — preferred

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles and long-term care practices for adult and geriatric populations
• Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate educational content for adult learners using evidence-based methods
• Skilled in creating and standardizing clinical competency programs and training curricula
• Excellent oral and written communication and ability to collaborate with clinical leaders
• Familiarity with education delivery modalities and tools such as Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Competence in policy compliance, preceptorship support, and interdisciplinary teamwork
