Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to newborns in the NICU and nursery
• Perform neonatal assessments, monitor vital signs, and intervene when necessary
• Lead and participate in neonatal resuscitation and emergency response (NRP)
• Administer medications and IV therapy accurately and safely
• Document care thoroughly in the electronic health record and communicate with the care team
• Educate and support families—helping parents feel confident caring for their new babies
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists for coordinated care
• Maintain infection control standards and a safe, calm environment for infants

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• ACLS and BLS required
• Prior NICU or nursery nursing experience (experience in neonatal care required)
• Comfort working night shifts and in a fast-paced neonatal environment
• Ability to pass facility background checks, health screens, and drug testing

Education

• Active RN license in Louisiana (required)
• ADN or BSN in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neonatal assessment, monitoring, and early intervention
• Proficient with neonatal resuscitation protocols (NRP)
• Experience with EHR charting and clear clinical documentation
• Strong family-centered communication and teaching skills
• Ability to prioritize and multitask during high-acuity situations
• Team-oriented mindset with excellent collaboration skills
