Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile operating room environment for each case
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and tech staff to ensure smooth procedural flow
• Anticipate surgical team needs and provide instruments, supplies, and support in real time
• Advocate for patient safety, positioning, and intraoperative comfort throughout procedures
• Accurately document intraoperative events, specimens, and instrument counts
• Troubleshoot and respond calmly to changes in case flow or unexpected events

Qualifications

• Peri-Op 101 Certification (required)
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• CNOR certification preferred
• Demonstrated independence in Urology, Vascular, Orthopedics, Pain management, Spine, Ophthalmology, and Plastics service lines
• Ability to work variable start/stop times on weekdays and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and operating room circulation expertise
• Surgical service line competence: Urology, Vascular, Orthopedics, Pain management, Spine, Ophthalmology, Plastics
• Infection control and sterile technique
• Strong communication, teamwork, and situational awareness in the OR
• Instrument handling, specimen management, and accurate intraoperative documentation
