Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents and create individualized speech therapy treatment plans that make a real difference
• Diagnose and treat speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders with evidence-based approaches
• Implement therapeutic techniques to improve communication and swallowing function
• Monitor resident progress and adapt treatment plans to meet changing needs
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams for coordinated care
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation to support quality care and regulatory compliance
• Educate residents and caregivers on communication strategies and swallowing safety to promote independence
• Advocate for residents’ communication needs and contribute to a person-centered rehabilitation culture

Qualifications

• Active California Speech-Language Pathologist license (required)
• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program (required)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Previous SNF, rehabilitation, or geriatric therapy experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing therapy
• Skilled in patient evaluation and individualized treatment planning
• Proficiency with clinical documentation and regulatory requirements
• Strong interpersonal and caregiver-education skills
• Ability to implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques
• Comfort working in a skilled nursing/rehabilitation environment
