Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform generalist clinical laboratory testing across Hematology, Serology, Chemistry and Coagulation to deliver accurate patient results
• Operate and document work in the blood bank, ensuring safe and compliant transfusion support
• Run gram stains and rapid kit testing as-needed to support micro-related needs
• Use EPIC and other LIS tools for charting, result entry and maintaining quality records
• Follow laboratory quality assurance processes and maintain meticulous documentation
• Work independently with minimal overlap on shift while communicating effectively with the healthcare team
• Participate in orientation and pre-shift training to ensure smooth handoffs and safe patient care

Qualifications

• MLT or MT certification required; ASCP or AMT certification accepted
• Minimum 2+ years experience as a generalist including blood bank experience
• Comfortable working independently with minimal shift overlap
• EPIC / LIS experience preferred
• Must be available for every-other-weekend and holiday coverage
• Valid driver’s license required for radius/submission; able to be in-state for orientation week

Education

• MLT or MT certification (ASCP or AMT required)
• BLS not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of Hematology, Serology, Chemistry and Coagulation workflows
• Hands-on blood bank skills and transfusion practices
• Experience performing gram stains and rapid kit testing
• Familiarity with EPIC and laboratory information systems (LIS)
• Attention to detail with strong documentation and QA skills
• Ability to prioritize and troubleshoot independently during shifts
