Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and perform basic EKG interpretation to identify and escalate abnormalities
• Adjust alarms per established protocol to maintain patient safety and reduce nuisance alarms
• Document findings, measurements and interpretations in the electronic medical record (Cerner now, EPIC transition beginning 5/2/2026)
• Communicate clearly and promptly with bedside staff using Vocera and other communication channels
• Multitask across simultaneous monitoring responsibilities while maintaining organization and accuracy
• Participate in orientation, competency testing (EKG test) and unit-specific training to meet unit standards

Qualifications

• Basic EKG interpretation training (required)
• Prior monitor tech experience (required)
• Approximately 2 years of relevant experience preferred (as listed in job details)
• Comfortable using Cerner; willingness to train and transition to EPIC beginning May 2, 2026
• Familiarity with Philips monitoring equipment and Vocera communication tools preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced acute care setting
• BLS: not required (per job details), but clinical professionalism and adherence to unit protocols expected

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Basic EKG interpretation and documentation
• Electronic medical record charting (Cerner; EPIC transition planned)
• Alarm management and adjustment per protocol
• Use of Philips telemetry/monitoring equipment
• Vocera or similar point-of-care communication tools
• Strong situational awareness, prioritization and multitasking abilities

This is a short-term assignment that starts in Tacoma for training with most of the assignment in Seattle — enjoy the best of both worlds. Explore Tacoma’s Museum of Glass and scenic Point Defiance Park, grab waterfront views and local eats. In Seattle, wander Pike Place Market, visit the Space Needle and Olympic Sculpture Park, stroll the waterfront and take a ferry to Bainbridge Island for a quick weekend escape. Outdoor lovers can day-trip to Mount Rainier or the Olympic National Park and find excellent hiking, kayaking and coffee shops nearby.
