Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care on the 1S Observation unit, ensuring patient safety and comfort
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret BCRA readings to detect and act on cardiac changes
• Float to other Med-Surg areas such as Respiratory, Stroke and Cardiac, and assist the ED when appropriately skilled
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR; Epic proficiency is required from day one
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Respond to emergencies and escalate concerns promptly to protect patient outcomes
• Participate in unit-based handoffs and ensure continuity of care during every shift

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years recent Telemetry and/or Step-down experience, including telemetry/BCRA competency
• Current Epic EMR proficiency is required; no refresher or 1:1 training provided
• Comfortable floating between units and working in fast-paced observation and med-surg environments
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to act quickly and professionally

Knowledge & Skills

• Epic EMR expert-level use for documentation and charting
• Telemetry monitoring and BCRA interpretation
• Step-down and Telemetry nursing best practices
• Med-Surg, Respiratory, Stroke and Cardiac nursing exposure
• Emergency Department experience is a plus for floating coverage
• Basic and advanced cardiac life support procedures
