Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with nursing standards, policies, and the practice act
• Document care accurately and comprehensively to support continuity and quality of care
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education tailored to each patient’s needs
• Utilize clinical judgment to manage complex situations, delegate appropriately, and escalate concerns through the proper chain of command
• Participate in performance improvement activities, shared governance, and peer review to improve patient outcomes
• Support longitudinal patient care by providing clinical expertise and assisting other units as needed
• Respond to telephone calls and perform telephone triage when assigned

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)
• Current WI RN or Compact RN licensure required
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Successfully pass EKG test and hold NIHSS certification
• Cardiovascular intervention / Cardiac Cath Lab experience required
• Minimum experience: job lists 2 years RN experience minimum (note: job details also reference 3 years RN with 1 year critical care experience) — critical care experience is required per the posting
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation (one night/week and one weekend/month)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; education verification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision making in acute and critical care settings
• Care planning, medication administration, and precise documentation
• EKG interpretation and NIHSS stroke assessment skills
• Telephone triage and clear patient communication
• Familiarity with performance improvement, evidence-based practice, and shared governance
• Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and mentor/delegate to staff
