Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' functional abilities and needs to create individualized treatment plans
• Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and care teams to coordinate holistic care
• Document progress clearly and timely to support outcomes and continuity of care
• Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, home programs, and equipment use
• Advocate for patient needs and help facilitate safe discharges and community reintegration

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapist license in South Dakota, or eligible to obtain state licensure
• OTR/L credential preferred or required per facility policy
• Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Comfort with documentation systems and teamwork in an interdisciplinary setting
• Professional, compassionate communication skills and patient-centered approach

Education

• Master's or Doctorate (OTD) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent degree from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in activities of daily living (ADL) assessment and intervention
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment and mobility aids
• Strong clinical reasoning and outcome-driven treatment planning
• Effective documentation and electronic medical record familiarity
• Collaborative teamwork and clear communication with patients and staff
