Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed radiation treatments to patients, ensuring accuracy and compassionate care
• Operate and maintain linear accelerators, tomotherapy units, CT simulator and HDR brachytherapy equipment safely and effectively
• Follow physician treatment plans and collaborate with the radiation oncology team to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor patients during treatment sessions, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition and providing sedation/analgesia care when needed
• Perform treatment setup, verification imaging, and documentation to maintain regulatory and quality standards
• Practice and promote radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff and the public
• Participate in departmental quality assurance, equipment checks and routine calibration procedures
• Provide patient education and emotional support to patients and families throughout the treatment process

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (required)
• Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Professional level (required)
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
• Familiarity with linear accelerators, CT simulators, tomotherapy and HDR brachytherapy
• Ability to perform physical duties per role (standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, pushing/pulling, reaching and repetitive motions)

Education

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license
• CPR (Healthcare Professional) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of radiation therapy techniques and patient treatment administration
• Radiation safety principles and regulatory compliance
• Proficiency operating linear accelerators and CT simulators
• Experience with brachytherapy procedures (HDR and low dose rate) and stereotactic radiosurgery
• Comfort treating both ambulatory outpatients and monitored inpatients, including total body irradiation when indicated
• Good communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary teamwork
