Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor medical-surgical patients, responding to changes in condition with clinical confidence
• Administer medications, IV therapies and treatments accurately and safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Document patient progress, interventions and outcomes clearly and timely in the chart
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning to support successful recovery
• Prioritize patient safety, infection control and high-quality care on every shift
• Advocate for patients’ needs and coordinate timely escalation when required

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact license accepted per facility policy)
• Clinical experience or strong comfort working on a medical-surgical unit (experience with 12-hour shifts helpful)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications a plus
• Ability to perform patient assessments, administer medications and manage IV therapies
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Proficiency with medication administration, IV/infusion management and wound care
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple patients safely
• Excellent interpersonal skills for patient/family education and team collaboration
