Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate direct personal care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Take and accurately record vital signs and measure output to support clinical decisions
• Assist with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing) promoting dignity and independence
• Implement restorative care activities such as range-of-motion and assistive device use to support mobility
• Observe residents closely and report changes in condition clearly and promptly to the nursing team
• Follow infection control, universal precautions, and safe body mechanics to protect residents and staff
• Document care and events accurately and professionally, supporting continuity and quality of care
• Work collaboratively with the treatment team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential (title: Certified Nurse Aide)
• At least 6 months of experience in a long-term care (LTC) facility (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — must be obtained within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple English and follow written/oral instructions
• Physical ability to perform essential job duties (lifting, standing, patient transfers)
• Positive attitude, patience, tact, and ability to tolerate challenging behaviors
• Previous Hawaii work experience is a plus

Education

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — to be obtained within 6 months of hire

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and direct personal care best practices
• Basic nursing skills: vital signs, measuring output, recognition of abnormal signs
• Infection control, universal precautions and safe body mechanics
• Restorative care techniques, assistive devices, and range-of-motion activities
• Basic medical and nursing terminology
• Strong observation, documentation and reporting skills
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse populations
• Good oral and written communication, teamwork, and professional conduct
