Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide full‑time, high‑quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care for patients across the lifespan
- Perform home visits and village‑based care, adapting treatment plans to limited equipment settings
- Assess patients, develop and implement evidence‑based treatment plans, and modify plans as needed
- Deliver ADL training, therapeutic exercise, and modality‑based interventions (e.g., ultrasound, e‑stim where appropriate)
- Document thoroughly and clearly in medical records and produce medical correspondence
- Collaborate frequently with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Respect and incorporate cultural considerations into patient care and communication
- Participate in competency activities and periodic self‑assessment to maintain high standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (required)
- Licensed in good standing as an Occupational Therapist in Alaska, or holding a good‑standing OT license in another state and awaiting Alaska licensure
- Current NBCOT certification (required)
- Current BLS certification (required)
- No minimum clinical experience required (experience preferred)
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screen, and provide required documentation (photo ID, SSN card, licenses, transcripts, references)
- Up‑to‑date immunizations or titers for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, T‑DaP, Polio
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy (accredited program)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and treatment planning across all ages and diagnoses
- ADL training and therapeutic exercise prescription
- Experience with documentation and evidence‑based practice
- Ability to use common OT equipment and modalities (hi‑lo table, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, e‑stim)
- Strong written and verbal communication with clinicians, administrative staff, and patients
- Cultural competency and effective communication with non‑English speakers
- Comfort with village travel logistics and delivering care with portable resources
